Dragonboat festival and new cookbook!

Sunday, July 28th we headed over to Sloan's Lake - 1/2 mile from the house to watch the infamous Dragonboat races!   After that I made some delicious food from the FeedZone cookbook.  Highly recommended for athletes and non-athletes alike.   Delicous, clean eating!

Moonlight Classic - not the first time!

So, once again we participated (kinda) in the Moonlight Classic.   They shut down the roads in downtown Denver and we ride our bicycles through.   This year it just poured rain and we rode to the event and rode home.   Not one single minute on the route.  But still dressed up ourselves and our bikes and had a great time with friends!

Girls' camping weekend!

Every year my friend Amber arranges a weekend that she can leave her children with her husband and us ladies go camping and hiking and whatever else we can find to do.  I was only able to stay Friday night because I double booked that weekend but here are some photos of the fire and the hike the next day!

Oops! Fell off the blogging wagon again....

What has been going on?   Well, on Sunday, July 14th - Tucker and I volunteered at the Triple ByPass  - a bicycle ride from Evergreen to Beaver Creek (and for some people, back again!).  It rained and rained and rained but we cheered them on and tried to keep them off of I70 and grilled - warm food in a cold rain is delicious!

The July 13th triathlon.....

So, after much discussion and contemplating I decided that it didn't make sense to go to Oregon to race this past Saturday.  I found a race (on the same course as my half ironman distance race in September) locally and signed up!
This race was an Olympic distance - 1.5 kilometer (.93 mi) swim, 40 kilometer (25 mi) bike, 10 kilometer (6.2 mi) run

I raced on this exact course 3 years ago in my first season of triathlon (yes, this is only the 3rd season - can you believe it?).

So, I am a completer and not a competer.  I tell people that ALL the time.   Truthfully, I am always compteting with myself.  Anything to get better than ME.

So, this was my 3rd Olympic distance event....  and 10% faster than my last one (2 years ago)!

I am getting stronger and faster and having fun!

For the record....
My 1st Olympic distance race (2010) = 4:30:39
My 2nd Olympic distance race (2011) = 4:10:29
My 3rd Olympic distance race (2013) = 3:44:47

The next race is another Duathlon on August 25th!  Before then I have the Copper Triangle and Tour de Cure Colorado benefit rides!
