Bike to work day 2012

Well I got off to an early start, the weather was cooperative at 5:40.

I took the long route north (hoping for less hill climbing): Sheridan to county road 3, over to 5, then county line to oxford, 287 to the breakfast station.  The last mile to the office brought me in at 37.7 with a 19.3 average.

On the way home I headed back the short way, you can see that I had as more climbing on that route, and Karyn (I think she was tired of waiting for me) picked me up about 5 miles north of home.

The winds weren't too fun anyway.

Total trip ~65 mi.

I'll post some pix later on, but here is the map/stats:

It has been hot

We had a record high of 100 on Tuesday.  I didn't feel much like going out side...  But today I made up for it...
What I should have done was go west on the highline canal rather than east.

I ended up riding through some very nice neighbor hods as I was looking to ride by Wash Park.

Happy Solstice!

Happy Solstice!

I know the AK Family celebrates these, but why doesn't everyone?

For Summer Solstice you should be out enjoying the longest day of the year.  For us, we're pushing 15 (16 if you want to push to include dusk).  For fairbanks, the Sun is up for ~23 hours, but the dusk never leaves...

For the Winter Solstice, why not celebrate?  It's finally going to be bright again!?!?  Denver is ~9:30, on the shortest day.  For me: that's leaving in the dark, and getting back home in the dark.  Doesn't everyone want to see the house they live in?!?!?!?    Fairbanks you ask?  Well...  3:41:12 in 2011.

Southern Tour

I'm training up for bike to work day, another stepping stone on the way to the century tour de cure August 18th.

Just an out and back.  But you can see the elevation of the ride.  Down for 25 miles, then back up for 5 miles.  This is a very pretty area, but you can still see the affects of the Haymen fire(2002).

2 minutes of downloads from my GPS?

huh? Apparently it's been a while.

I'm sure you all remember:
More Fruita

Mountain Biking
Irvine Park

WHAT?!?!?!  something went wrong here.  Only Two more rides?!!?

But you might enjoy this one...

Here is what I mapped for the ride:
Here is what I did:
I think it's funny how you get ~50% of the way through a project and have to re-define the project to meet the milestones...

I had a wedding to attend at 3pm....

I mapped 44.8, and rode 35.

Sigh* 4 surgeries in 15 months....

2 lower body, 2 upper body...  left hand, left knee and right shoulder, right foot.  Today was the first surgery I have ever had with local anesthesia - yay! not knocked out!!   I had my DeQuervain's Tendonitis released...  I asked my surgeon - "How does it look in there?"  He replied "Pretty gross, actually."  I was laughing so hard!

Now to recover... again.  I had just taken the bike off the trainer and now it's back on.
