Another Powder Day!

Okay, so not much to report... except 29 new inches at Loveland Ski Area in the last 48 hours and 18 inches at Vail - we went to Vail. Our ski pass gives us unlimited skiing at A-Basin, Breckenridge, Keystone and 10 days to share between Vail and Beaver Creek. The most we've(I've) ever gotten is 9 so we took advantage today and what a day it was!!! We were a little too busy skiing to take many pics but here are a few from early this morning, packing the car and getting ready to go! Six days of skiing into the season, 2 powder days, 1 Vail day... .not a bad way to start!

of course, I-70 is now closed.... at Vail Pass and at the Eisenhower Tunnel... the other ways home are highway 285 (also closed) and Loveland Pass (also closed) so that's all we've got. Guess we're stuck?!?!? There are worse things - at least Marilyn and Bill have a nice, warm place to stay - with wireless internet!

POWDER day!!!!

Today was/is the first powder day of the 2008-2009 ski season here in Summit County, Colorado. We got up early and took some turns in 8 inches of fresh, fresh POWDER!! It was an incredible morning and then crowd showed up and we left... guess we'll try again tomorrow as it is still snowing right now!

Here are some teaser shots!

Ah, Saturday!

Saturday used to be the day that I looked forward to - as a kid. I could sleep in, mom might make pancakes, cartoons, roller skating in the afternoon sun.... you remember? Well, since Tucker and I both have deadlines at work that are looming we are spending this morning - WORKING!

However, last week we had a great surprise! Marilyn (Tucker's mom) and Suzanne (Tucker's Aunt) sent us our first 'traditional'(?) wedding gift! We had wanted this set of flatware for several years and had been too busy working on the house to figure out where to put it so we are finally able to take advantage of their generous offer to purchase this set for us. We got 12, 5-piece, settings plus an additional 12 teaspoons - and a cherry box! It is beautiful and we can't wait to use it! THANK YOU!

hmmm... ski season begins!

so, this post is not going to be what you expected.... We headed off Friday evening to go see the newest Warren Miller movie at the Boulder Theater with some (20+) friends. The movie was great and I was totally ready to start skiing. And then there was the...... ASPIRE!

The movie started at 9:30 which is pretty late for these two. We got out.... after midnight and wandered over and got in the ASPIRE! Well, the Aspire has been averaging about 38mpg lately and while the gas gauge was below empty for the last 100 miles... the trip only showed 300 miles on this 10 gallon tank. but, we ran out of gas anyway. but not in a normal way... we were coasting along and it just wasn't keeping speed (and we weren't headed uphill!) so I pulled off the highway - at a very empty shopping mall. I kept having to turn the car off and back on to rebuild pressure through the fuel pump(?maybe?) and we limped to the nearest gas station - 1/2 mile? We were back on the road and the car was acting like it was fine. 9.5 gallons of gas later, that is.

When we arrived home to our visiting pooch who was SO glad that we finally made it home at 1am!

That's right, we're dog sitting again - this time for 3 weeks. Hope she enjoys the early morning walks with me and Jen to the personal trainer at 6 am!

FINAL INSPECTION!

So, on Wednesday.... we called for a ducting inspection.... the inspector showed up, looked at stuff

and gave us this!

All it means is the inspection is closed, not that the work is complete. There is still SO much to do!

Hmmmm.... ventilation!

So, the big accomplishment this week was..... Tucker worked from home one day so that our friend Don could put in our ventilation from the hood microwave to the outside world!
The next accomplishments were.... Karyn started ski conditioning classes (MWF@6:30am) with a neighbor and rode her bicycle to work one day! The weather is finally getting cool and promises of snow have Karyn and Tucker thinking about skiing (finally!)

Stay tuned - more next week!

Happy Halloween

Well, after 2 nights of Halloween parties we had intended to begin building our deck but instead we are inside trying to get motivated. The downstairs master bath still isn't done being tiled although the upstairs master bath is! yeah!
