Going to visit Doug and Bev and Family

Doug and family came down to visit Granny Bev for the week of the 4th.  We thought we should drop by.  Dad hitched a ride with us as we headed down.
The weather was good but not everywhere, as we looked over Monarch pass it was clouded over.  And 756TK as usual had some issues.  Note the right tank depositing fuel into the left tank, I landed with 6 more gallons of fuel in the left tank than I started with...  The right was pretty low on fuel.  Also the cylinder head temp gauge wasn't working too well...
Post flight checklist and un-pack...  Dad was a great help since he has plenty of experience with it!

We made it and tied it down, We spent some time setting up some Tents of Bev's that nobody remembered how to set up...
Glad we got in early with the Colorado afternoon storms in the area, the background of this shot is our flight path.
We had time to check out the parade on the morning of the 4th...  A nice flyby to kick it off!

Bev planned to ride with her horse group but Princess was not feeling up to it.

There were a couple things we thought we should do in the afternoon on the 4th.  We talked up the Rodeo and visiting Piedra falls (short hike involved).  Several of us chose the falls hike.  We all loaded up in the car, and headed north.   After a few miles we started joking about Doug forgetting the fishing gear (Fish On!  Warburton), and 'the short cut to the rodeo'.  After the directions not being specific enough, we found the trailhead to the falls.  1/2 hike as it appeared the clouds coming in.   Turns out most of the 'shortcut' joking was realized when we stopped at the dead end...  Debbie expected a rodeo at the end of this drive!
We jumped out and started the hike with significant clouds overhead.   As we walked it started to sprinkle..rain...lightning...heading back...no pictures...  let's find that route home!

We passed the Sportsman's store for the 4th time (signage would be helpful) on the way home...

Doug brought down quite a feast!  A full red salmon and lots of crab legs...  We cooked up the salmon and some of the crab legs on the grill and steamed the rest.  Quite a feast!

Of course we drove down the street to catch the fireworks!

Gabby was very excited to help me out on the pre-flight checklist and get to sit in the plane for a bit before we came home.

The weather was forecast to be excellent on the way home, so we stayed for a nice breakfast with the family and then headed out.  Nice views over the san luis valley.

Still some snow up there south of Poncha Pass!
Hmm.  She better be burning lots of calories with this data on her GPS...
We dropped off Karyn at KAPA in front of the hanger she works in on some projects.   There must have been some chatting about that....

Longmont Air Expo

Why wouldn't you fly into an air show?
We picked up an archer and headed up to Longmont for the Air Expo, lots of cool planes were there, we in fact were the second to last aircraft in before the shut down the airspace.

We toured around and ran into a previous co-worker and his family.  I think it made his son's day when I put him in the archer to check things out...

Then the show began!

Jaspurr

Today we lost Jaspurr.  She was with us for 16 years, and was about 2 when I got her.  Here is an array of photos that I dug around for...

I felt like we had made a major milestone making it to June, 1 day past May when we lost Booger a year before.
Her last days she was getting along with the new cats.
She passed peacefully at home between 12:45 and 1:15pm.

Diego came to town

Diego a college friend came to Colorado (after 18 years) about the time of Glenn's Birthday.  We met up with him on Memorial day at Glenn's Birthday party.  We had a great time.  Diego and his wife Silvia were pretty excited when I offered to take them flying...   Brian Brown was also pretty excited.

The weather was great around Denver, but not down to the Sand Dunes which I had planned, or at least Royal Gorge.  We had a quick flight around Denver but everyone loved it!
