Christmas Hut 2014 - Margy's! (again)

So, every year for many years we have joined friends in the backcountry of Colorado at a ski-in hut for Christmas.  This year was not (much) different.

We were headed to Margy's hut this year with Karen, Tony, Russ and Becky.... However, a few days of in-resort skiing before lead to a completely torn ACL for Karen and so only  5 of us made it to the hut.

The last time we went to this hut it was almost news worthy.  This time, we sailed in with ease and got set up - although the last group left us NO WATER which took hours to rectify and we were almost all out from the hike in.

Great Christmas dinner the first night!
Views off the front deck.

The 2nd day we had company - lots of boots!

Karen spent Christmas in Aspen enjoying the views and her Santa hat!

We ran into some Browns....

Karyn and I were heading over to the SNC holiday party, and just before entering we ran into 'the Browns'.   Brian and Stacy were heading out to a surprise birthday party...  So we got to catch up, and a quick photo.

Another trip to California

Mandatory training...  Well I can make use of my off time.  I was out at the Fremont, CA office, but after training I was able to meet up with Mark!   I was able to finally meet his wife Sarai.

The picked a nice Sushi place.  It was almost like being in Japan.

Planes Trains and Automobiles and repeat

We took a trip over thanksgiving out to California...

We woke up Thanksgiving morning and set out on our voyage...
We drove to DIA and picked up the train out to concourse B.  We loaded on the plane...

Of course we ran into an old friend Kurt who was traveling on our plane.  We haven't seen him in at least 5 years.

We flew into John Wayne airport SNA, the weather was a bit nicer out there.
We jumped in a Taxi to head over to the train station in Anaheim.

We were lucky to get seats next to each other.  A very crowded train, and a nice train style lunch.

Once we got to Camarillo, we picked up my parents car, and headed over to the festivities at Sperry's place.

Family pictures are always a riot!
Someone making things a little crazy.

On Friday morning we went over to see the new exhibit (almost a year old) at the science museum.

And of course I got a picture of the live feed of the inside of the shuttle.  (Live?)

Saturday morning...  Repeat.

Shuttle to LAX, Plane to Denver, Train to the car and back home again.

Just some fun getting ready for the family shot...

Just another weekend.....

Last Saturday we...... um, skied.  It was great and we left as soon as it wasn't (crowded).

On Sunday Tucker and I took off for bicycle rides.  I use the plural because we started together and I left the bike path with my yoga mat strapped on my bike and went to a yoga class while he continued his ride.  I was thrilled to find the neatest bike racks in front of the yoga studio!  I locked her up and went in to practice!

I'll definitely try to ride if I'm ever around for another weekend yoga class!  But, ski season is upon us so that is NOT likely!

I got to fly with Dan in the skywagon 180

Dan is doing some instrument training, so I got to ride along on a beautiful day.

Too bad he didn't get to see any of this, but he sure was working hard.
The view from the right seat in on the ground in a tail dragger
The neighbor had out his impressive WWII plane
and we're off
The Liberty Media/Starz facility at the end of the runway.  I used to drive by this every day.
There's the old building.  And the stock price was a buck 13 when I checked last week.
Looking south from lone tree.
East.  There isn't much there.
Looking back over down town
a close up.  Can you see our house?

Buckley
The DTC

and coming in to land at Centennial.

A great flight and I don't often get to view Denver from this close or this side...

From first harvest to first freeze

We had mixed results from the garden this year.  The zucchini grew up not out like a normal vine.

The cucumber was pretty weak the whole year.

This was the first harvest, and in the end the only cucumber.  The first freeze was Tuesday 10/28, so I pulled in the rest of the garden.  You see the green tomatoes and the zucchini - litts.

The Small Pig Roast

The Small Pig roast was this weekend.  It started out with the birthday boy Bob and the ladies taking jello shots!

Check out this rotisserie rig!

Who made the orange peel jello shots?

We feasted on pork and all the cats got was Duck liver!

It was another great party!
