Can you open that window?!?!

huh? Which one?

I'm not sure you knew what you were looking at when you glanced west from the top of the stairs....

I guess now I have to explain... The last original outside windows in the house were in the upstairs west dormer. Well what would you expect from windows 104 years old? They leaked, and were not what the average person would call secure...

If you haven't done this before, you take the window shown above. You cut off the new construction tabs. (the part that makes it easy to install...)

You get the fresh trimmed, perfect fit window:

install... and...

Today I can open those windows, and the cats can't get out!

Today was a big day for the house, and a bad day for those windows... We're working on some great ideas for making those stay part of our home.

You could make a coffee table out of the windows. Or maybe use them in a type of screen or barrier wall between two rooms that can act as a separator but not at the same time. Or maybe you could create a type of light fixture, like a chandelier that hangs down flat with a couple lights above it, add some type of film or something to cut down on the glare and you could hang the lights above the kitchen island or dinner table, like a pool table light almost. Or you could hang them on your wall and make some sort of collage.
