The PLAN????

The plan today was sleep in after a late night arrival of a friend of Tucker's from Halifax (midnight) and then up to the mountains to ride up to the top of Vail Pass in preparation for 1/2 Ironman races, Tour de Cure and Copper Triangle.

After 2 chain problems and 2 blown tires - before we even got out onto the trail - we gave up.

And went to Tucker's parent's condo to cook the gift our Canadian friend brought us in the middle of the night - fresh, live lobster!!! Tonight Becky is going to try lobster for the first time ever! So excited to get to share with her and Russ!!!

Something's getting hot in here!!!!

So, these Browns REALLY like our hot sauce... This is our 'normal' hot sauce collection at dinner time.... the 6-pack holder is FULL!

Then something new snuck in..... cause....

apparently people notice. One of the gals I work with got me some hot sauce while she was on vacation. I think the plastic wrap is for my protection! (but the skull keychain isn't a good sign!)

Next, the backyard has a new addition.....

Look closer.......

House/Yard Progress??? YES!!!

Finally.... I wish I had a real before pic of all the weeds and 'stuff' back there but much improved and they aren't even done - yes, we hired out a project. Hard to believe, I know. ;)

Now Karyn gets to finish building that last set of stairs off the deck!

Training Training Training

This was a big training weekend for me... Saturday I rode 48 miles around the south and west ends of Denver.

From the house I rode South to meet up with the South Platte River bike trail, accidentally missed the Bear Creek trail, and was at the 470 trail before I knew it. I got a bit wet crossing 470 each time I did. The underpasses seem to be pretty far below the highway and collect water.

Heading up the west side of town toward golden, there was a lot of construction and riding on gravel in place of the concrete bike path. Its always an adventure riding around here!

I passed Green Mountain on the west side dropped into Golden, then hightailed it back to the house.

I arrived home after about 2 hours 45 minutes with an average speed of 16.5, and total ascent of over 2000 feet. I was late for departure to Karyn's Company BBQ at Heritage Square.

Sunday I met up with Alex to hike Herman's Gulch.

A little cross training I suppose, but I was fatigued from Saturday's ride. We hiked 7 miles, and over 2000 vertical again. But the difference here was high elevation training. We started at 10,300 ft.

Karyn did a bit more than me, so I better let her talk about that.

Competitive and brainy? This is what can happen....

Do you have smart child? Are they a 'tad' competitive? Here's what might happen when they grow up - Jigsaw puzzle parties! There is even talk of a plaque since this was the 2nd annual - happened on Jun 11, 2010.... My (Karyn) team won!

This weekend.... a 9 mile run this morning, Tucker rode his bicycle 'about' 48 miles and tomorrow Tucker is hiking and I have a 56 mile training ride in store. Perhaps more time to blog tomorrow too? Tucker keeps promising some blogs up his sleeve. I might have to write a Team WILD blog tomorrow!

This week? More 70.3 training for Karyn, Bike to Work day for both of us and landscaping begins in the back yard. Hope it looks better in the end - we need some where to put that ski lift chair!

And next weekend... LOTS of blogging - a Superhero Pub Crawl and my 2nd Sprint Triathlon! I heard that Wonder Woman (shock to my mother, I'm sure) and Flash will be in attendance at the pub crawl! Stay tuned for more Brown adventures.

Sooooo......

So, last weekend was Camp WILD (6/3-6/6) - with gals from all over the country that, like me, have diabetes and LOVE to push their limits with exercise! We cycled.... and ran and swam! And after 2 days of drills and lectures, we put it all together and completed a Sprint Triathlon - 800m swim (1/2 mile), 17 mile bicycle ride and 5Km (3.1 mile) run! We sure look happy that it's over!

Then life got interesting and we decided to go to Tucker's niece's courthouse wedding ceremony... We were talking about it on Thursday evening and Tucker had a hotel and plane reservations Friday at 11am and we flew out on Saturday morning at 6 am! But as long as we're going to Chicago.... why not take advantage and see my WILD gals?!?!?

So, Frontier charges more for frequent flyer miles starting tomorrow so we have a trip to San Fransisco and one to Washington D.C. on the books - and there are WILD gals in both those places as well - just wait for Miss KarynB to come calling!!!

Thanks for a great weekend Andrea, Megan, Jason and Tucker - and the WILD girls too!
