check out team WILD!

Its female, its Diabetic, its a team, its... Iron man? Check out Team wild!

Karyn is training for completing a HALF IRONMAN next Sunday - with a team of female diabetics!

Riding relay, Karyn is on the clock!

You can help out with a tax-deductible donation to Team WILD! Please consider a small contribution. Every penny counts and is appreciated. Her tracking number is TW0922. Please help this group stay alive so that next year she can do a full Ironman?!??

As you know, there are numerous nonprofit organizations doing compelling and worthy work in the world. I've put my confidence in DESA. Don't worry; they will not send you any email unless you register with them.

Want to know more about Team WILD?!?!?

Fresh hops Festival

Saturday we went to a fresh hops beer festival. All the beers we sampled used hops fresh in the brew within 24 hours.
Some good ones were there from Gordon (oscar blues), and a lot from the NW cascade fresh hops.

Some of Karyn's work crew showed. Who knew there would be corn hole!?!?

Ellie colors one set of bags with mustard...

Ellie and I closed the game with the win!

Weekend Fun!!

Day 1.

Sorry the audio didn't work on the vid. I have some back ground music in there somewhere.

Also first time in a while for the helmet cam.

The snow was great until 10, and the lines were fine until then too.

After we got a chance to visit Russ, Becky and David's new place in Dillon Valley. They bought a foreclosure, are fixing it up, and are renting rooms for the ski season. I can direct you if you know anyone who wants one.

After, Karyn put in a training ride. That's right. Still training!!! This time it's a 1/2 iron man triathlon. She's relay, just doing the ride. But she has already bought a swim suit, we'll see what happens next year!?!?!

Check the next post for more info!

Supper Club

Supper Club.

The theme was comfort food. They made brisket and Lasagna, they said those didn't go together, so I went with that. Karyn shucked the oysters, I made an onion vinegar sauce, some smoked Pheasant and goose with apricot date chutney, and some salmon pate...

The oysters were not a hit, but Karyn and I enjoyed them. The pate was enjoyed, but everyone didn't want to fill up.

Sunday I made oysters Rockefeller. MMMM good.

just pics

so, this past weekend we went to a yurt with Karen, Spencer, Elise and a couple of others! It was great fun. We woke to snow on Saturday morning and Sunday morning were walking around without jackets. There was some fishing and some cooking, eating.... yup, normal trip! Beautiful sunrise and sunset! Thanks to Karen for ALL the great pics!

LONG overdue....

So, I was looking through some photos this weekend and realized that I never posted about my friend Becky's FIRST triathlon (on September 12th)! It turns out that the weather was really, really terrible and they canceled the swim portion due to lightening so it turned into a Duathlon - which means Becky STILL has to do a triathlon!!! After the race we all went to dinner and got to enjoy Xander (enjoying his dad's beer).

Smoking and... um, other bad(?) habits

Where to start?

BAD HABIT #1 - Personalized license plates
I, Karyn, have a very bad habit with personalized plates... The motorcycle is OLYELR (it's yellow), the truck is BGWNCH (take that however you want but it was intended that the truck eventually get a winch that still isn't there) and now the Jetta has, well, see below...

BAD HABIT #2 - Eating well and smoking
We ordered some grassfed, organic beef with some friends. We needed to make room in the freezer for said beef. Tucker did an amazing job smoking up some of the fish we had in the freezer to make room for the beef - Jaspurr even helped with the cleanup!

BAD HABIT #3 - Bicycling
I went out to Red Rocks this morning in 32 degree weather to go to Bootcamp. When I returned home I contemplated a 50 mile bicycle ride and decided to put it off until tomorrow.... but I did notice some things walking around the house (and this doesn't include the bike shoes and helmet on the front couch!)

I suppose some 'bad' habits make us healthy and happy? my return from bootcamp...
